Stretch PR Wins PRSA Chicago Skyline Award for Work on Presidents Cup
Chicago-based sports PR agency recognized for outstanding work by PRSA Chicago
September 2026 – How do you make a golf event matter in a football city? You take it to Soldier Field. With the 2026 Presidents Cup (an international golf showdown between the top players from the U.S. and an international squad minus Europe), headed to Chicagoland, the PGA TOUR tapped Chicago-based Stretch PR to ignite local excitement a full year ahead of play. The challenge: break through one of the most competitive sports media markets in the country and position the Presidents Cup as a must-watch Chicago sports moment. Stretch PR stepped up to the challenge and because of the strong results, won a renowned award from PRSA Chicago.
Chicago-based sports PR agency, Stretch PR, took home a PRSA Chicago Skyline Award for its work on the Presidents Cup shootout event at Soldier Field in partnership with the Chicago Bears, PGA TOUR and First Tee of Greater Chicago. The award entry, titled Driving More Than Impressions: How the Presidents Cup Captains Visit Built Buzz, Credibility and Community Impact in Chicago, won the PRSA Chicago Skyline Award for associations/government/nonprofit organizations in the events/observances seven or fewer days category under.
At the shootout event, the PGA TOUR and Stretch PR brought together the Presidents Cup Captains, the Chicago Bears, more than 200 guests and media, Chicago Sports Commission, First Tee – Greater Chicago and key influencers from the local media/golf community for a one-of-a-kind event that resulted in 9.2 million impressions and $250,000 donated to First Tee – Greater Chicago. The Presidents Cup “Captains Visit” happens prior to each Presidents Cup event, but this time, Stretch PR created a first-of-its-kind “shootout event,” complete with a chipping contest at iconic Soldier Field. U.S. team captain Brandt Snedeker and International team captain Geoff Ogilvy were featured during a behind-the-scenes tour with Chicago Bears General Manager Ryan Poles and addressed 200+ guests and media alongside other recognizable sports figures in Chicago. The custom-built chipping competition, combined with the partnership between these organizations created an unexpected, visually striking activation that turned a routine media event into headline-worthy content.
The activation was amplified across the Bears’ social media channels and through in-stadium presence with both team mascot Staley Da Bear and in-stadium announcer Tim Sinclair. More than an event, this was a statement: the Presidents Cup has officially arrived in Chicago.
Stretch PR was presented with the award from PRSA Chicago at the Skyline Awards and Leadership & Impact Awards Gala Celebration on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
